This week's Dos & Don'ts includes some helpful tips on knowing when to stay home or go out, along with some key deadline reminders. From updating your benefits elections to conducting annual training, you don't want to miss these key deadlines!

Should I Stay or Should I Go Now?

Before leaving home for minor errands or to see friends, ask yourself several questions to better understand the risks of going out in public right now:

  • Is COVID-19 on the rise in my community? Do consider checking here before heading out.
  • What are the local health orders related to COVID-19? Do review local orders to understand the risk of going out right now and what rules you need to follow.
  • Will I come into close contact with someone who is sick or is not wearing a mask? Don't remain around people who are not social distancing and not wearing masks because it increases your risk of coming into contact with the virus.
  • How many people will I interact with and for how long? Do try to limit both the amount of time around people and the number of people with whom you will be near.
  • Can I keep six feet of space between myself and others? Do practice social distancing to lower your risk of coming into contact with the virus.
  • Will I have to share items with others while I'm out (for example, using a shared pen at your bank)? If so, do consider bringing your own.
  • Will food be shared? If yes, do ensure individual portions are provided rather than using a shared pan.

Going out in public is safer, relatively, if you can keep six feet of distance between yourself and others, you and people around you are wearing masks, and the event or activity is outdoors. You can learn more about how to decide when to go out in public by visiting the CDC webpage here.

Review Your 2021 Benefits Now

The open enrollment season runs through Nov. 18, with an extension through Nov. 25 for Dresden employees due to the planned refueling outage. During this time, you may review your benefits and make any needed changes for the coming year. Elections made during this period will take effect Jan. 1, 2021. Learn more about open enrollment here.

Don't Fall for Calendar Invitation Scams

Cyber criminals would like to formally invite you to share your sensitive information. There has been an increase in phishing messages where the sender asks to share their calendar with you by clicking a link. A phishing link that arrives in a calendar invite is less expected and even savvy recipients may be more likely to fall for it.

  • Do double-check the sender's email address and verify their information.
  • Don't click on links or download attachments in an email or calendar invitation that you were not expecting.
  • Do use the Report Phishing Button to report suspicious emails or calendar invitations.
