In this week’s Dos & Don’ts, we feature a vaccine story from a Nuclear colleague, information to assist veterans in getting vaccinated, a new webinar on the challenge of inclusivity in a virtual environment, new opportunities for volunteering outside and the importance of updating your devices to keep them secure.
An Employee's Vaccine Story
Don’t miss our latest testimonial from a colleague who has been vaccinated. Eric Steinberg, senior ops training instructor at the Braidwood nuclear plant in Illinois, shares his experience with both shots and why getting vaccinated was important to him.
Veterans and Vaccinations
As a follow-up to last week’s Dos and Don’ts, we wanted to share more information about military veterans and vaccine opportunities. Currently many Veterans Administrations (VAs) are vaccinating enrolled/eligible veterans of any age. In some areas where demand is higher than supply, there may still be some age restrictions, but don’t worry -- those should be removed soon. Congress also recently passed a law authorizing VAs to vaccinate all veterans, plus their caregivers and their spouses (likely by May 1 at all locations). Do sign up for the vaccine and check out the “Stay informed” VA site.
Tough Conversations in a Virtual Environment
Exelon continues to foster an inclusive culture, and we need everyone’s support. Consistently being inclusive is more difficult, given social distancing and remote working. But, together, we can make progress.
Don’t miss a candid conversation with Dr. Arin Reeves and Lisa Jerome, Exelon Manager of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, on April 6 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. CT, as they discuss current events and difficult topics based on questions and feedback we’ve heard from you. If you would like to submit a question in advance, please send it to DandI@exeloncorp.com.
Get Outside to Help Others!
Do be aware that Occupational Health Services (OHS) has determined it’s once again safe to hold small outdoor volunteer events so long as participants adhere to local COVID-19 restrictions (visit the County Health Department of the event location for guidance and event size). And, don’t forget your mask and hand sanitizer.
At Exelon, we celebrate National Volunteer Week throughout April. If you’re not ready to attend an outdoor event, do take a moment to review independent and virtual volunteer events by visiting Powering Communities or consider holding your own event. Check out our helpful Virtual Volunteer Opportunities guide to learn other ways you can give back from home.
